Y&R's Eric Braeden opens up about his memoir, I'll Be Damned

Hungry for details about the upcoming release of I'll Be Damned, the memoir by The Young and the Restless' Eric Braeden (Victor Newman)? Here's where you can satiate your appetite.

Remember when Soap Central reported earlier this year that The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) had written a memoir and the tome was available for pre-order? Well obviously, because you've been chomping at the bit for more details about one of the soap opera industry's most anticipated books! And guess what? Braeden has finally decided to open up about his autobiography, which is due to hit bookstores on Tuesday, February 7.

"It was an emotional ride," the actor told Soap Opera Digest of making I'll Be Damned, which he co-wrote alongside Lindsay Harrison, who also collaborated on the late Jeanne Cooper's (ex-Katherine Chancellor) autobiography, Not Young, Still Restless. "One inevitably lives life on a daily basis and sometimes you don't take the time to reflect, and when you do look back upon certain periods in your life and discover deeply buried emotions, well, let's just say it's a good thing there was someone to edit it [laughs]."

He continues: "The most interesting and sometimes upsetting was childhood and youth, growing up in the most cataclysmic war of all time. The first years in America were interesting but tough times, as well. What I enjoyed most was reminiscing about all the wonderful actors I've worked with, from Marlon Brando to Betty White [ex-Ann Forrester, The Bold and the Beautiful] to Mary Tyler Moore to Gunsmoke to Mission: Impossible, all of them. And, of course, my [reminiscences] of working with Jeanne. I had enormous affection for her. I know how tough it is to maintain a career in this business and I have great respect for her for that. She and I always laughed together. We had an enormous amount of fun."

For more from Braeden about the making of I'll Be Damned -- including how the actor really feels about poorly written storylines, Victor's recent history, interacting with fans, and when he plans to retire -- check out SOD's interview here.

You can still pre-order your copy of Braeden's memoir from Amazon.com.
